Not only am I a huge fan of their tunes and overall performance, but at least one guy is a true friend J Ever since getting the band back up and running a few months ago, they have been tearing faces off all over the place and continue to surprise people with their amazing skills and high-energy façade. With a mix of death metal and catchy breakdowns, they appeal to every age group of metal brat out there! Be sure and check them out at a show near you, they are literally on a tear! Well folks, it’s that time again! I’ve scoured the intronet looking for great local bands as well as some not so local to stimulate your depraved sense of, well metalness. This month I revisit with a band that’s reunited after a long hiatus, The Aberration, no less! Shallow Ground gives us whiplash and a little blurb about up and coming death metalers, Mutant Supremacy. As for me, the thought that winter will again shroud us in a gray cloud of boredom, and the fact that the most consistent local metal place has shut down L, WILL not stop me from getting off my ass and going to see some new talents elsewhere! I want to point out that Pizza Stone in Chester, VT has a great metal night once a month as well as Silk City Music in Florence, MA, who keeps throwing sick shows for all of us to bang our heads to..we just need to GET THERE. K that’s all! Hope ya’ll enjoy the bands I’ve chosen and till next month…keep hailing Satan! Kenia THE ABERRATION SHALLOW GROUND This thrash metal ensemble from Meriden, CT have quickly become one of my new faves. With their old school thrashy sound reminiscent of early Metallica, their influences include many of the early greats: Judas Priest, Megadeth, Exodus, and of course, Slayer to name a few. I first learned of this band after continuing to see them on show listings from here to there and decided to check them out. The first song I heard was “Black Rose”…WOW is all I have to say. It’s as if the last 2 decades of traditional thrash never happened and I was back in my room, recording metal songs onto a tape from the radio! Nuff said right? Luckily, they have a cd out and ready for you! ‘The End Of Everything’ is available now and please go check them out on fb and their website www.shallow-ground.com Check this shit out!! Mutant Supremacy from Brooklyn, NY is a sick ass group of guys who are traditionalist death metalers down to a T! I simply can’t get enough. Go like them on facebook and try to catch a show near you all up and down the east coast! Peace!
