Traditional Christmas is on December 25. Many people celebrate Traditional Christmas in different ways. Christmas Eve (the day before Christmas) is also celebrated by some families. Some of the different ways people celebrate are by, having a family party, staying home and having fun, opening gifts, going church, having a feist, spending the day outdoors, and many more family traditions. Like Russian Orthodox believers there is Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, to children who celebrate traditional Christmas there is Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Santa is known to live in the north pole with little helpers called elves. On Christmas children believe he rides in a flying sleigh pulled by flying reindeer to every house and delivers presents. Many families decorate a pine tree with lights and ornaments. A lot of people also put colorful lights around or on their houses.

My family celebrates Christmass by opening gifts and having breakfast, then going to my grandparents house for a party with friends and family. My sister and my friends and I sometimes sing funny Christmas carols for the adults. We dress up in scarves and funny shirts, then we sing into this funny looking microphone (that does not work). Last years it snowed so much, so my family and I sledded down a huge hill. It was so fun. For dessert one of my grandma's friends brings fruit cake that they light on fire, she cooks a penny into the cake, and whoever gets the penny in their serving has good luck for the rest of the year. Many families also eat cookies. These cookies are usually in the shape of trees, presents, and other Christmas cookie cutters. Also people enjoy making gingerbread houses and covering them in candy. Families also decorate with wreaths. Wreaths are circular pine bows connected with decorative ribbons and other decorations. Merry Traditional Christmas!
