F
ifteen years ago Ciao! launched
Dine About Winnipeg, a
restaurant event to celebrate local
restaurants and bolster the dining
scene during the icy temperatures
of winter. Over the years, this
multi-restaurant promotion
has mobilized thousands of
Winnipeggers to expand their
culinary repertoire and discover
new spots. Dine About Winnipeg
has engaged the restaurant
community and the city’s best
chefs showcase what they do and
offer it at an incredible price.
For many restaurants presenting
super-deals on their chef’s creation
at the beginning of February is a way
of thanking regular patrons for their
business throughout the year. This
year, the number of participants is
notably reduced from former years,
refl ecting just how tough it is for
many restaurants to navigate the
new normal competing with hockey
for limited entertainment dollars.
As a reader of this magazine, you
are already a fan of locally owned
restaurants and stores. I encourage
all Ciao! hounds to continue to show
support of Winnipeg’s restaurant
scene by visiting at least one eatery
during DAW2019.
This year’s event runs from
Feb 1-11th, and offers three price
categories from which to choose. A
glimpse of the menus are listed in
this issue of Ciao! and additional
options are found on our website,
ciaowinnipeg.com
Over the years, Dine About
Winnipeg has introduced many
people to new tastes and places, and
this year promises to do the same.
Enjoy this issue of Ciao! and all the
eating it will lead to.
We cater to spontaneous whims
and those unexpected openings
in your day. Walk-Ins Welcome.
