“Five minutes everyone! I need everyone in line ready to go in five minutes!” Ruth Bibby’s voice had the power
to make us all feel as though we were about to pee our dresses at any moment. The nerves were high, but the excitement was even higher.
Kayla Humphries, a model
in the My Fair Lady
collection, said, “I was
honestly really excited the whole time backstage. I couldn't wait to get out
there and let everyone
see all the hard work [my designer] had put into my dress.”
Before we knew it, the
music was pumping, the
first models were
taking the stage, and
audience was
matching our energy!
The 7th Annual
Family and
Consumer Science
Fashion Show was
finally here.
This year’s theme
was Project
Hollywood.
Fifteen student
designers created
38 looks based
off of iconic Hollywood movies
like Pirates of the Caribbean,
Phantom of the Opera,
Grease, My Fair Lady
and many more.
Designers spent a total
of five months creating
one to four outfits for
men, women, and/or
children. Some
designers turned the
movies into
contemporary looks
while others took a
more abstract haute
couture design.
Several designers
even created
collections of
three to four
outfits.
While everyone
accomplished
so much as far
as personal
growth,
creativity, and
experience,
there were a
few stand-
out
designers
who took
home the
top prizes.
