Saturday Morning Speaker
Rev. Cornell Sudduth, Sr.
Rev. Cornell Sudduth, Sr., Pastor of Second
Baptist Church of Jefferson City, will be our
speaker for Saturday's worship. Cornell earned
a B.A. in Psychology from Westmar College
(in Le Mars, Iowa) and an MDiv. from Central
Baptist Theological Seminary. In December
1993, Cornell was called as the 25th pastor to
lead Second Baptist.
During his time at Second Baptist, he has been
commonly referred to as the “Community
Pastor” due to his God-filled spirit to render
spiritual nourishment to all people. Under his
pastorate, several members answered the call
into the ministry and was licensed under his leadership.
In addition to leading his congregation, Cornell has also served as Vice-President of the Missionary Baptist of Missouri State Congress of Christian Education and as Moderator of the Central District Missionary Baptist Association of Missouri. He is a member of the Jefferson City Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and serves as a Mentor for the Jefferson City Public School District. He also serves on the Capital Region Medical Center Clergy Board of Governors.
In 2006, Cornell received
the Lifetime Service
Award from the Jefferson
City Branch of the
NAACP. In 2009, he
received the Citizen of
the Year Award from the
Eta Alpha Chapter of the
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Cornell is married to the
former Susan Williams.
They are the parents of
two sons (Cornell Jr. and
Curtis) and a niece (Sara
Williams).
