Christ Centered Girls October/November issue! | Seite 9

There’s one particular scene at a wedding that has recently become a favourite of mine. No, it’s not when the groom sees his blushing bride for the first time. Nor is it when the vows are shared and the rings exchanged. It’s not even when the “I do’s” are said and the long awaited kiss is gloriously sealed. It’s actually the {heart-shaped} moment when the ‘just married’ couple are showered head to toe in confetti by the many guests surrounding them. There’s just something special about pretty petals floating to the floor when thrown from the air that make the most picture-perfect photographs afterwards. Isn’t it amazing that something as simple as falling confetti can turn an ordinary moment into a magical memory? But, if confetti makes for such pretty photography why then is saved for only special celebrations? Shouldn’t every day the sun rises and every evening the moon sets be enough of a celebration for a hailstorm of petals or paper pieces to shower the earth's rocky grounds. It was then the word kindness drifted through my mind, sparking an instant awareness to how both confetti and acts of love play a part in our everyday lives.

every evening the moon sets be enough of a celebration for a hailstorm of petals or paper pieces to shower the earth's rocky grounds. It was then the word kindness drifted through my mind, sparking an instant awareness to how both confetti and acts of love play a part in our everyday lives. When it comes to kindness, why so often does it seem to be only sprinkled sparingly? Most of us won’t hold back on our handful of petals when time appoints us to toss them over the bride and groom. Right? So why then do many withhold their share of showering others with kindness when God calls for it be bestowed? In our fractured society, words and actions depicting compassion and gentleness can seem as if a mountain has to be climbed before anything kind can be remotely gestured. Has the world merely forgotten that kindness doesn’t cost us a dime or waste our time? Wasn’t the whole reason behind Christ’s walk on earth to prove just how far one kind and loving heart will go to not only save the world but change it for the better, forever. (John 3:16)
