5. Learn to live unselfishly…
Singleness can definitely be associated with selfishness, but this is our chance to flick the switch and become an empowering generation of world changers.
Let’s take advantage of our single statuses and channel them into something wonderful. We could become volunteers or youth leaders, fundraise for our favourite charities, sponsor children, begin our own ministries, adventure on mission trips, cook meals for the elderly, sick or poor and invite those in desperate need of company out for coffee dates, our shout of course.
This is our time to shine and become the brightest gift givers of all. I can’t think of anything more beautiful than someone who dedicates their time for others than on themselves or just one lover.
Micah 6:8 recalls, ‘He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God’. God wants us to live righteous, kind and selfless lives like His Son exemplified. Why not embrace this season and evaluate how we can make a difference to others, making us givers and not receivers.
Now it’s your turn. How many more treasures can you go onto list? What do you enjoy most about your single life? Focus on the joys, opportunities and rewards of owning just yourself for the time being.
Ask God to help you fill up your treasure chest (your heart) with these splendid jewels, stringing them into something that magnifies His radiant love to the world.
Who knows, singleness might become your choice for now instead of the choice your always left with.
