CMC MAGAZINE THE HILL
hen it comes to providing our seniors
with the best health care possible,
choice and prevention are two of the
most important things to consider.
That’s why the Medicare Advantage program is so
important. It gives seniors control over their health
care choices and provides the tools they need to
stay healthy and out of the hospital.
In addition, evidence continues to show that seniors
who choose Medicare Advantage experience better
health outcomes. For these reasons, I have fought to protect seniors in
Medicare Advantage during my time in Washington. Seniors need affordable
health care choices that offer the kind of security and quality that we have
come to expect from the Medicare Advantage program.
In Nevada, more than 130,000 beneficiaries choose Medicare Advantage
health plans for quality, affordable health care. When I hear from my
constituents with Medicare Advantage, they tell me that they are highly
satisfied with the services and benefits their plans provide. But they
also express concern about the potential for future cuts to the Medicare
Advantage program.
When the Medicare agency proposed cuts to the program this year, I took
a stand to protect seniors by working with hundreds of my colleagues in
congress from both sides of the aisle. Because of this effort, we were able to
help prevent widespread changes that would have hurt seniors across the
country through higher costs and reduced benefits.
The truth is that Medicare Advantage is a program that works and has
proven to be a successful model of health care delivery that improves health
outcomes for seniors at affordable costs. That’s why I am committed to
continuing to fight for seniors in Medicare Advantage in the future.
