I always try to immerge myself in a new culture or society sort of what I did for the last collection (SS13 was inspired by vintage photos of Balinese people). I did some research and found beautiful images of the Amish. I was also very interested by the quilting technique they use. I wanted to mix these inspirations with my recurrent punk and 90’s inspired references. My ultimate goal was to create an austere yet different and modern look. What were the colors that you were gravitating towards? I knew I wanted to use mostly black which represents strength and elegance for me, but then I added dark blue and burgundy, always staying in menswear inspired shades of colors. I also wanted to have a general obscure palette enlightened by colored details (as for the knitted sweater for example). While doing my reaserch on the Amish culture, I discovered that women of the community get married and are buried in white, which lead me to start and end the presentation with white looks. What is your design process like? I also give a lot of attention to the volumes and inside construction of the pieces . Who is one of your favorite local models to work with? I recently worked with Camyl at Folio and Rachel at Dulcedo who were both very nice. Camyl has a fresh and pure beauty and is very pleasent to work with. Meanwhile Rachel is elegant and androgynous and has acting potential which was perfect for our show (as it was an artistic performance where girls where interacting with some objects on set). Is there anyone’s style you’re currently obsessing over? I really look at how some of my friends are dressing . One was a model at my show and I really take on their advices to better my clothes and its details. Another friend currently lives in Paris in an artis F
