lthough a lot of great things have happened in my life, I have also had some turmoil, when I was younger I was bullied for being a slow reader, which also caused me to be held back a grade. Even though I went through hard times it didn’t stop me from growing and continuing on my way to make my dreams a reality. Dr. Mae Jemison is my motivation and inspiration, her journey to becoming the first African American woman to travel into space was fascinating and reminds me to never give up.
A young filmmaker was interested in telling my story in the form of a documentary. She captured footage over the course of a few weeks and “Astronaut Starbright: The Story of a Young STEM Advocate” was made. Even with the documentary and the fundraisers I am still like any other teenager, I like going to the movies and hanging out with my friends.
