The dummy horse (Poykkuthira) is carried by 40 persons and it would jump to the sky which exhibit a war-like performance to the viewers. We can see a battle field in Chinakkathoor on Pooram day. The highly elated players and their valorous outcry will enthrall the spectactors. Their cry ‘Ayyayyo’ can be heard in the entire area. King Zamorin and Prince will be watching the war-like demonstration of horses . The play will continue for two hours. 40 players will throw the horses to the sky and catch in their hands. The players need great skill and precision and any lapse is bound to be highly dangerous perhaps fatal too. To stop the war-like play,Mangalam horse(Jyothsyan/Astrologer)will enter in to the field. Mangalam Horse bows before the goddess and declares that play be stopped for the day and may the following morning in same pattern . Then the play will stop. It will continue in the next day morning in same pattern. Goddess Durga would shower the blessings on the devotees observing the display before the temple. The main Horse ‘Pandaram’ (Zamorin) presides the function in the West side and Eralppadu (Yuvaraja) presides in East side. So it may be noted that the Horseplay is a symbol of the elegant show bring true to the spirit of Mamankam. Durga Devi welcomes the crowd of Chinakkathoor with material blessings and says " Oh my children, I am happy with your presence. We shall meet next year”.
