In fall 2016 semester, China Programs, Confucius Institute, Chinese Club hosted the Language Partners Programs. Over 60 Chinese minor students and 40 Chinese students participate in the program. They meet twice a week to help each other practice Chinese and English. Every week, China Programs prepare a topic for them to talk. The topics included academic study, Chinese/American traditional holidays, university activities, Halloween experience, etc.
Throughout the semester, we encourage them to hangout and participate activities together to get extra points. At the end of the academic year, students can get some prizes according to the points they get. We organized and informed them a lot of activities this semester, such as Mid-Autumn Festival, Game Night, Movie Night, Study Night, Homecoming Parade, Haunted Corn Maze, Halloween Treasure Hunt, World Unity Fair, etc. Students shared some photos with us and we will print out some good ones at the intercultural celebration in May, 2017.
Both Chinese students and Chinese minor students enjoy this program a lot. A lot of Chinese students keep their commitment and come to participate at least once a week. They make friends with each other; they learn language and culture from each other; they invite each other to their home and cook food for them. Many of them say that they are going to participate again next semester.
2016年秋季，中国项目、孔子学院和中文俱乐部共同组织了语言伙伴项目。有超过60名中文辅修专业的学生以及40名中国学生参加了项目。他们每周碰头两次相互帮助练习汉语和英语。每周，中文辅修专业的老师会为学生准备中文作业；中国项目会为中国学生准备话题和常用语句。这些话题包括有学习、中美传统节日、大学活动、万圣节趣事等等。
这个学期，我们鼓励中美学生在项目之外的时间能一起参加有意思的活动来获取额外的分数。整个学年结束后，中国学生可以根据他们所获得的分数换取奖品。活动的三个主办方在本学期内也组织了很多活动供学生参与，例如：中秋节活动、游戏之夜、学习之夜、返校日游行、万圣节玉米地、万圣节寻宝活动、国际节等等。学生们会将他们参加这些活动的照片分享给我们，在2017年5月文化交流活动上，我们会打印出有意义的照片送给学生作为留念。
中国学生和美国学生都非常喜欢这个活动。虽然学业、工作很繁忙，但仍有许多中国学生坚持每周至少参加一次活动。他们相互结交朋友、学习文化和语言、邀请双方来家里做客吃饭等。许多学生说他们下学期还会继续参加这个项目。
