A delegation of 8 led by Jim Cooney from Colorado State University visited Southwest University from October 31 to November 3. At the beginning of October, President Zhang Weiguo led a delegation from Southwest University visiting CSU. This was a return visit from CSU to Southwest University.

In the morning of October 31, President Zhang Weiguo, Vice President Ding Zhongmin and leadership from different departments and colleges warmly welcomed CSU delegation. President Zhang introduced Southwest University and look forward to the collaborations in many ways between two universities.

Two universities signed agreements in 2+2 programs at undergraduate level, 2+1 programs at graduate level, student exchange program and affiliated high school program, which marked the strategic partnerships between two universities.

In the afternoon of October 31, president assistant, Dr. SU Guifa, leadership of some departments, colleges and international affairs hosted a meeting to discuss about the collaborative programs with CSU delegation. They talked about preparations, education resources, admission requirements, course descriptions, credit transfer, etc.

In the evening of October 31, Southwest University School of Music hosted a welcome concert for CSU delegation featuring symphony, folk music, dance, chorus, solo, etc. Daniel Goble, Director of School of Music, CSU and ZHENG Maoping, Dean of School of Music, Southwest University also performed on the stage to celebrate the establishment of two universities’ collaborations.

In the afternoon of November 1, several colleges at Southwest University held an information session about CSU-Southwest University 2+2 program at undergraduate level and 2+1 program at graduate level. CSU representatives introduced program details and answered questions from students.

During the visit, Wei Gao, Associate Provost for China Programs; John Moore, Director of Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory; Michael Palmquist, Associate Provost for Instructional Innovation; Inger Johnson, Project Manager, CSU Online visited School of Music, College of Environmental Resources, College of Geography Science, College of Continue Education and Affiliated High School and talked about cooperative education, joint doctoral program, online education, high school program and other possible collaborations. Vice President JIN Yule and Dean, School of Music ZHENG Maoping awarded Jim Cooney “Guest Professor” in College of Policy Public Management and Dan Goble “Guest Professor” in College of Music at Southwest University.
