The annual general meeting for China Programs was held at Grey Rock room at Lory Student Center on October 10, 2016. About 30 faculty and administrators attended the meeting. Wei Gao, Associate Provost for China Programs started the meeting and gave a brief report about China Programs, including new university partners, dedicated 2+2 programs with Anhui Agricultural University in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability (ESS), statistics about students, graduates’ destination, students services and events, joint research institutes, and Confucius Institute. Jim Cooney, Vice Provost for International Affairs gave a remark about some recent updates - The University-based Extension: 2nd International Conference on Modern Agricultural Extension and Technology Transfer; meeting with senior delegation from Anhui Agricultural University (AAU); host for Southwest University delegation led by President Zhang Weiguo as well some possible collaborations.

John Moore, Professor and Head of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability and Director of Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory and Randall Boone, Professor in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability shared their experience with the first cohort of 27 ESS students from AAU. They will work with professionals around the campus to get ready to welcome this group of students in fall 2017. The second cohort of 27 students has been admitted at AAU.

Matt Kipper, Associate Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering introduced the collaborations with Qingdao University in research, joint education of graduate students, faculty exchange and resources sharing. CSU and Qingdao University established the Center of International Research on Hybrid Materials Technology.

Dr. Carol Seger, Professor in Psychology is the leader of joint international laboratory for the study of mind and brain between South China Normal University and Colorado State University. South China Normal University is one of the top 3 universities in China in Psychology area. CSU and SCNU also developed faculty and student exchanges in several areas of research.

Dr. Kuoray Mao, Assistant Professor in Sociology has been working with Office of Engagement, especially in some China-related projects, since he started working at CSU in 2015. He also has connections with Chinese Academy of Science and Technology (CAST) and Renmin University. He is very looking forward to the visit to Renmin University in January 2017.

During the discussion session, some faculty showed interested in developing potential programs with their contacts in Chinese universities. Finally, Dan Bush, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs concluded the meeting. He was happy to see many faculties have research collaborations with Chinese universities, especially in agriculturally field.
