TEACHING TIPS

COURSE

ATMOSPHERE
An inclusive, welcoming and comfortable learning environment is critical. Prioritizing parents’ needs over course content also adds tremendous value to the course.
• Help each parent identify their own specific needs, goals and desires.
• Encourage parents to learn and think independently, using activities that promote communication and learning outside of class.
• Provide an environment that encourages different opinions expressed in an atmosphere of mutual respect, allowing the sharing of various perspectives and promoting the exploration of all sides of an issue.
• Always stay flexible and open to current and urgent needs of parents. Provide time for parents to voice questions, concerns or discuss topics in more detail.
• Keep parents comfortable by providing several options for seating, access to restrooms, drinks and snacks( if possible), temperature control and other strategies to create a relaxing space.
