Hot Seat: Mr. Naumann
Summertime Blues
Here are some of the jobs we have lined up
In 2018-19, the Chieftain will include a regular Q&A, featuring a dif-
ferent teacher each issue. Our fi rst interview is with recent Teacher of
the Year winner, Mr. Naumann.
Jayden Arabbo
Associate at Brain Freeze Ice Cream in
Rochester Hills
Fun Fact: Jayden has to wrestle his boss
to get his paycheck each week.
Q: What is like to be named Teacher of the Year?
A: I was very honored and excited.
Q: We know you are quite the “Big
Buck Hunter,” but have you ever killed
a real deer?
A: YES!
Q: Many know about the food truck
you operate in the summer. What is the
craziest experience you have had?
A: At the end of big events, when there
are several trucks in attendance, there
are a lot of leftovers and we exchange
food. We fi nd ourselves putting cheese-
burgers and tacos on pizza and other
crazy ideas. I’ve even had a hot dog
rolled in a sushi roll … better than it sounds.
Mike Atto
Valet at Elite Parking Solutions in
Bloomfi eld Township
Fun Fact: Mike once received two $2
dollar bills in one hour.
Reilly Gilson
Offi ce worker at Birmingham Bloomfield
Audiology
Fun Fact: As Reilly says, “The job may be
boring, but yeah, it’s very boring.”
Q: Is it true you only wear a pair of socks once? If so, why?
A: It is not true anymore. Back when I could afford it with my
“Big Buck” winnings, I would only wear a pair once. Socks are
weird when they get holes in them.
Q: What has been the funniest moment you have had at Rice?
A: After our 15-hour days with parent-teacher conferences, when
your brain barely functions, I like to get together with my fellow
teachers. For some reason, these times are always funny. I think it
is slap-happy, lack-of-rest funny, but it is funny.
