Shows You Just Can’ t Miss Your faithful Chieftain staffers pick the best concerts of the summer

Faster Horses Festival 2018, July 20-22 at Michigan International Speedway( Brooklyn)
Every year country music fans look forward to Faster Horses, and every year it keeps impressing. The three-day festival will feature the likes of Blake Shelton, Billy Currington, Florida Georgia Line, Dustin Lynch, LoCash, Walker Hayes, and many more. Faster Horses is one of the top festivals in the country, and the fact that it happens in Michigan is a real treat. Three-day passes are $ 200.

Mo Pop Festival, July 28-29 at West Riverfront Park( Detroit)
The Mo Pop Festival has to be one of the most underrated concerts of the summer. The two-day concert will feature a wide array of musical talent this summer, as Bon Iver, Vince Staples, Portugal. The Man, Daniel Caesar, Clairo, and many more. But the two can’ t-miss performances are Brockhampton and Rex Orange County. Brockhampton, a multiman group that doesn’ t have a definitive genre, has blown up over the last year, and they continue to rise. Rex Orange County is a 20-year-old Indie Pop / Alternative Hip Hop artist who continues to rise in popularity after an appearance on“ Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and a song featured on the FIFA 18 soundtrack. There is no doubt that Mo Pop may be the best concert of the summer.

Arctic Monkeys, Aug. 1 at Masonic Temple( Detroit)
This is the concert of the summer for me. The Modern Rock / Alt Rock Arctic
Monkeys are one of those bands that everyone can get behind. Recently, they released a new album,“ Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino” and, interestingly, went with a new style. People who love Arctic Monkeys hate the album, but people who didn’ t like them love the album. I hated it at first, but it’ s growing on me. This concert will focus on their older stuff and should be a jam session. I have high expectations.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Aug. 13 at Ford Field( Detroit)
The“ On the Run II” tour is the second co-headlining stadium tour by American singer Beyoncé and her husband, rapper Jay-Z. A followup to a 2014 tour( which didn’ t include Detroit), On The Run II is set for 36 cities and starts on June 6. Many people are amped and ready for the blockbuster event; tickets are $ 20- $ 320 and have been on sale since March 19. This tour follows two years of relationship turmoil surrounding Jay-Z’ s alleged infidelity, aired on Bey’ s 2016 album“ Lemonade.” If there’ s one thing I know, you don’ t want to miss out on this, it will be one to remember.

Brockhampton will be a big addition to Mo Pop
Aubrey and The Three Migos, Aug. 14 at Little Caesars Arena( Detroit)
Two of the hottest brands in rap combine for a can’ t-miss concert. Migos, coming off their new studio album,“ Culture II,” keep rising. Songs like“ Stir Fry” and“ Narcos” have shown a new style of the trio that we haven’ t seen before. Drake, aka Aubrey, however, has not slowed down, himself. His single“ God’ s Plan” has taken over this Spring and his feature on“ Look Alive” with BlocBoy JB also has added to the hype. While this show is pricey($ 59- $ 180 +), it will be worth the price of admission for sure. Watching them perform the hit“ Walk It Talk It” will be an awesome moment.

Migos and Drake( aka Aubrey) is a can’ t-miss concert
Paco Higdon’ s Band, every Saturday in James’ garage( Royal Oak)
This is arguably the biggest band to hit the streets this summer. Paco, twin brother of Brother Rice Engineering teacher James, has a hit single,“ Clownin ' Around,” that is on pace to hit the Billboard Top 100. Rumors are out there that James will make his comeback and join Paco on the summer tour. James said he has been practicing nightly in his basement, and his brother said he sounds great. The first concert of the tour will take place in James’ garage. Paco plans on playing his entire hit album,“ Here to Party.” After the success of the garage concert, the band plans to expand their tour and eventually make it to DTE for the biggest concert of the summer. If the Higdons make it to DTE, the concert world will be changed forever.
