Winter Basketball: A very young 2015-16 team will now just be young, and it looks to use the experience it gained in a tough season to improve. Bowling: This group will need some new faces to emerge to make up for the loss of most of their top bowlers. Hockey: The team once again will be competing with powerhouse Catholic Central for the Catholic League title and B ROTHE R R I C E H I G H S C HO O L C H I E F TA I N Spring Baseball: The 2017 squad will lose stars from a State Championship-caliber 2016 team that is hungry for a State Title after early playoff exits the past two years. Golf: The team will lose a lot of Senior talent, so it will look to some members of JV to step in and contribute immediately. Lacrosse: We all know how this season is ending. Despite the loss of key Seniors, the team still will be expected to win its 14th straight State Championship. Sailing (also a Fall sport): After gaining popularity in its first year, the team hopes to grow in numbers and respect. Track: Most of this year’s team will not be present next year, but there is still tons of young talent ready to fill the gaps left by the departing Seniors. PAGE 4 MRP’s production of Beauty and the Beast Going Clubbing Extracurricular menu is tempting By Jacob Oxyer Chieftain Staff Here’s what to expect from the extracurricular world outside of sports: Chess Club: After a great first season under Mrs. Zink, we’re looking forward to what is to come. Robotics: Coming off strong showings at States and the World Championships, the team is losing key members to college. Who will Mrs. Savage find to fill their shoes? Quiz Bowl: Mrs. Nuss and the Quiz Bowl team had a solid season, as both JV teams and a team of Freshmen had strong finishes at their competitions. Debate: Mr. Walentowicz’s team finished 5th in the state for public forum debate. Their sights are set on a State Championship next year. Marian-Rice Players: The MarianRice Players put on two fantastic shows this year, Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast. The troupe is already busy planning for 2016-17. S U M M E R 2016
