SPECIAL SECTION Faith-Based Groups Are Part of the Rice Culture By Andrew Rosa Chieftain Staff When someone hears Brother Rice, they think of outstanding athletics and academics. But only someone who goes to Brother Rice knows that the school is full of devout Christians. Most people don’t know about Christian groups that teachers set up. Then you should let Brother Segvich know you’re interested in joining the Train Club. Still an idea at this point, the club “hasn’t left the station yet,” according to Br. Segvich. “We’ve gotten sidetracked,” he added. If the club takes shape, he plans to take the group on a trip to the Michigan Transit Museum in Mount Clemens. There is plenty of room in the club for all who are interested; if it is something you would like to do, mention it to Br. Mr. Rayles also set up a bible study group called Warriors for Faith to look at the upcoming Sunday’s scripture readings and understand Christ’s message to us. Mr. Rayles also takes students with him to Washington, D.C., each year for the March for Life, an event where hun- dreds of thousands of people travel from all over the world to protest abortion. “Events like these can be very heart-warming,” Mr. Rayles explains. Catholic Schools Week is about Catholic schools coming closer together to show that we are united as one in our faith, and Brother Rice clearly deserves to be part of this celebration.
