JACKSONVILLE – Opening Day, at long last, is
fi nally here.
An offseason of waiting comes to an end at 1:00
p.m. when the Jacksonville Jaguars host the
Kansas City Chiefs.
The 25th season of Jaguars football is about
to get underway with a lot new around the
organization: a new offensive coordinator,
quarterback, tight ends, defensive end,
linebackers, safeties.
Here is a look at some of the key Jaguars
acquisitions that will have a huge impact on the
Jaguars’ success or failure in 2019.
The New – Offense
Quarterback Nick Foles will make his Jaguars
debut today after signing in 2019 free agency.
Of course, Foles was the Super Bowl MVP two
seasons ago and led the Philadelphia Eagles
to another playoff run in relief of Carson Wentz
last year. Now as the Opening Day starting
quarterback for a football team for the fi rst
time in a long time, can he make that magic
run for an entire season-plus? Having more
consistency at the quarterback position is
something everyone should be able to count
on from Foles – a full mastery of new offensive
coordinator John DeFilippo’s offense will help
that. Better quarterback play brings better play
from those around him.
