Pre-Crimbo Ramble!
By Simon Benson
The CYC Ramblers met at the clubhouse on a chilly Saturday
morning, with gales due and some driving rain
promised. As walk leader I gathered together the assembled
crowd, gave a rousing speech about not letting the weather get
in the way of a good walk and promptly left my deputies Tony
and Christine Dickenson to lead the hardy group on a walk along
the harbour and up to Itchenor as I had a GC meeting to attend.
While I was in the warm and dry the walkers battled strong
breezes, even gale-force winds, and made it to the harbour office
at Itchenor, where a coffee, tea and a mince pie break was had.
Then the walk back along the beautiful harbour shore, with its
breathtaking views, was the reward. The rain stayed away and a
great ramble was had.
Back at the club for lunch with the kitchen ready and meals on
standby, Josh and Callum looked after the intrepid ramblers and
those who had finished their meetings.
My thanks to Tony and Chris Dickenson for leading the walk on
the day and Jerry Quinton for assisting them.
