Training Update: Drew Gibson, Senior Instructor With the arrival of 2020, there are many different opportunities to get out on the water, whether as part of the cruising programme, dinghy racing or training. There is training on offer for all members of the Club, from talks and lectures organised by the Yacht and Motor sections, to Dinghy and Powerboat training run through the Club. With new Powerboat Upskilling Workshops in time for the new season, they’re the perfect way to brush up on your skills and improve confidence. If you don’t have your PB2, then why not book on to one of the many courses that we have running? For sailors, there are our ever popular RYA courses and Club training sessions. March will see the first of our Rigging Workshops, which are a great way to learn about rigging all the Club dinghies that we have, particularly if you’re thinking of hiring one this Season. If you’re not sure what training is for you, or would like any more information, Lucy, Carolyn, Manu and myself are always happy to help. Fed up with those old out of date flares? No not those ones! Help is at hand as an organisation called Ramora are booked to be at the 2020 Chichester Boat Show at the Marina on Sunday 26th April. They will take out of date flares for a small donation, and we’ve been advised that it’s free for Premier Marina berth-holders. Also the RNLI will be running lifejacket clinics on both Saturday 25th April and Sunday 26th April at the event. 15
