Club General Manager
Manu Jenkin
There has been a lot of excitement over the past few weeks as the
hospitality team planned the Club’s Christmas makeover.
As you know, at CYC we are strongly committed to reducing our
use of single use plastic as well as our impact on the environment. To
that effect, this year our in-house artist Jo has been hard at work
making decorations using fresh and recycled materials that will be
used alongside our existing decorations.
All hands were on deck to transform the entire Club with fresh
wreaths, lanterns, garlands, hanging decorations, fairy lights and two
beautifully decorated fresh trees; we hope to share the magic with
you when you next visit the Club. With the same concerns in mind,
I hope you will support our initiative this year not to use Christmas
crackers which are filled with non-recyclable plastic and covered in
foil.
We are very fortunate to have lots of talented and passionate people
working at the Club. One of them is Josh, our bar and events
assistant manager. Josh is passionate about coffee and always looking
to improve our offering which is why we have now moved over to a
new coffee supplier, Clifton Coffee. The tasting notes describe it as
dark chocolate, a hint of caramelised hazelnuts with sweet acidity. I
can assure you it is delicious and very smooth! Let us know what
you think. We have also switched to Clipper Teas for all our teas
(traditional and fruit) as they use only plastic-free, unbleached,
non-GM (genetically modified), organic and fully compostable tea
bags and packaging. Have you tried them? Let us know what you
think.
Coming up this month
The New Year’s Eve Gala dinner is now fully booked; please register
your interest with the office if you would like to go on our waiting
list.
You will shortly be receiving details of our wine pre-ordering service
enabling your chosen wine or chilled fizz to be on your table labelled
with your name by the time you arrive, saving you from queuing at
the bar. If you haven’t done so already, please kindly return your food
choices by December 15th.
Burns Night on January 25th will be the next opportunity to do some
dancing (reeling) and celebrating. This is another ticketed event with
no hatch meals on the night so we would recommend that you book
early to guarantee a space.
