she said, explaining that animals are her favorite things to draw, because that’ s what she started out drawing and painting.
Price also mentioned that she liked doing the holiday windows for the Chamber of Commerce.
Peggy Renfro, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce president, said Price has been painting the Chamber office windows for years.
Renfro described Price as very creative and her talent as amazing.
“ You can tell she loves what she does and her talent shows with every painting she touches,” Renfro said.
Price has painted the Chamber windows for holidays and Tomato Fest.
“ Last year she created an elf that looked exactly like the Chairman at that time, which was Dillon Rodriguez. We received so many comments on our window and can’ t wait to see what she will create this year for the holidays,” Renfro said.“ We have utilized her for Tomato Fest for many years and each year she continues to surprise us with her talent.”
Cheryl Grabow, owner of the local Merle Norman store, has also engaged Price to paint for her. Because Merle Norman has a policy of not covering the storefront windows, Grabow has Price paint the transom.“ But I like that because it’ s a little bit of fun,”
Grabow said. Price recently painted a leopard print above the entry door. Grabow said the design was taken from a cosmetic compact that Merle Norman had released.
“ I’ ve known her since she was a little girl,” Grabow said.“ She’ s very artistic. She’ s such a hardworking individual, very dependable.”
Grabow describes Price’ s talent as‘ God-given.’ She admitted she had tried a painting class once and it was enough for her to determine painting wasn’ t for her.
“ Just give her an idea and she runs with it. She’ s very helpful,” Grabow said.“ Sometimes it’ s hard to have a concept of your own, especially if you’ re not trying to follow an established pattern like something Merle Norman’ s come up with. You might need help, inspiration, and she’ s got plenty of that.”
Price revealed where she gets inspiration for much of her work.
“ I love the vintage, retro postcards from the 50s, even the artwork from then,” she said.“ That’ s what I go to for Christmas first. I start there for everything.” Price said oftentimes one job will lead to another,
Lacey Price recently painted this leopard print at Merle Norman, inspired by the design on one of the cosmetic company’ s compacts.
