• Developing active learners Students and staff will commit to lifelong learning through the development of thinking skills , intellectual curiosity and by taking responsibility for their own learning .
• Preparation of responsible citizens Students will develop the citizenship and leadership qualities which will enable them to contribute meaningfully to a culturally diverse society . These qualities will be modelled by every member of our school .
• Connecting with our community Members of the community will have a sense of belonging , and involvement in , an excellent school . Connections with the local , national and global communities will be fostered .

Our Values

• Achievement We work hard at promoting and celebrating the highest levels of achievement by staff and students . For staff this means high standards of professionalism and a willingness to do what ever it takes to enable students to do their best and to build on a long standing culture of success in the school . For students this means they understand that they do have the ability to succeed at the highest level .
Excellence in all fields is recognized and rewarded , and we target examination results , particularly scholarship , but also national academic competitions , cultural festivals and inter-school sporting competitions as indicators . We also value the gains made by many of our students requiring remedial attention . Even though they do not make it to academic honours , most work hard to be the best they can be and make considerable personal academic gains .
• Creativity We live in a world of constant change and despite our responsibility to educate young people there is considerable unpredictability about what the future will look like . To prepare students for this sort of future , where they need to be innovative , original and resilient , we must encourage them to try things and not to be afraid of making mistakes . Without such an environment the extra-ordinary capabilities our young people have will never be realized .
• Respect There is a widespread view that young people can only succeed if they possess a magical quality called self-esteem , yet we feel that there is an important distinction to be made between self-esteem and self-respect , of which the latter is far more important .
