Pedro honed his skills on complex and varied military projects , mastering more equipment and , at the invitation of his superiors , getting additional training to eventually become the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge ( SNCOIC ) and Utilities Chief overseeing the shop responsible for maintaining and distributing equipment for his entire company . “ The military is a very competitive environment and my desire was to excel , so I took any extra training available because if a promotion came around , that additional schooling helps you move up the ranks .”
He spent 12 years in the United States Marine Corps , serving in two combat deployments and three combat zones – but it was transitioning back to civilian life that he found the most challenging . “ I was never one to hang back on the base ,” he explains . “ I always volunteered to go into the field . I was already a Staff Sargeant E6 and was scheduled to be promoted to E7 after coming back from my second combat tour in Afghanistan with R4OG , where I was in charge of accepting combat gear from the units ,

brought it to record , and shipped the equipment to locations based on the Marine Corps ’ needs , retrofitting all our equipment from helicopters to metal detectors . As a Platoon Commander , I had my own platoon and four squads under my command by age 30 , so when I got out of the military , it was a struggle to find the right work environment . Working under someone else and in office setting was not a good fit and working in warehouses was too easy .”
After buying his first home , a fixerupper , Pedro realized that he had all the necessary skills to fix his house . “ Framing construction , electrical , plumbing – I had already learned all of this in the Marines . I bought some books and searched online to teach myself whatever I didn ’ t know and kept learning project by project , until I had the confidence to do it as a business .” He started doing repairs for other people
