A treat for a cause
Funds from cookie sales will go toward Cat Alliance Team Sanctuary

During the entire month of October , people can purchase Halloween-decorated cat cookies from Lux Sucre Desserts — and half of the proceeds will go toward a good cause .
The Cat Alliance Team Sanctuary is a cat rescue organization on private property in Sherwood — and it is seeking support for the 150 cats housed there .
“ We don ’ t have any major money and it ’ s pretty costly to take care of and rescue the number of cats we do ,” said Janet Diltz , volunteer with Cat Alliance .
In addition to half of the proceeds going toward the sanctuary for all October cat cookie sales , there will be a big push for Halloween cat cookie sales Oct . 24 and volunteers will be collecting cans for bottle deposit funds .
“ I ’ ll be there ,” Diltz said . “ I ’ m making up a photo board with the cats we have for adoption and ( will include ) a little bit about us , who we are and what we do .”
The cats live in a barn that has been converted into a handful of rooms .
“ They have free roam and they have catios where they get to go out on a nice sunny day ,” Diltz said . There are 76 cats that are permanent residents and are not adoptable for various physical reasons .
“ We take good care of them ,” she said . “ They ’ re happy and that ’ s what makes me feel so good about it .”
The cats have fresh bedding , water and food , and receive daily cleaning of their dishes , litter box and other amenities .

The Cat Alliance Team Sanctuary is partnering with Lux Sucre Desserts to raise money for the sanctuary during the month of October .
PetSmart in Wilsonville and adopt a lot of them out through that business .
This is the first time the sanctuary has done a fundraiser with Lux and Diltz said she is looking forward to it . The cookies will be almond shortbread sugar cookies and will have a cat design printed on top of the icing with edible ink . Each cookie will be $ 5 and will come in individual boxes so the treats can be gifted to others as well .
“ That will be the draw for October ,” Diltz said .
