Swyt said she was surprised to find out she was named a finalist for the Rotary ’ s award . To her and most volunteers , they don ’ t devote their time for the recognition but instead to connect and make a difference .
“ It has given me an enormous appreciation for being able to work with so many , across so many interests , from so many backgrounds ,” Swyt said . “ It ’ s amazing how rewarding life can be when sharing together , simply because we want to help each other . That is life ’ s ultimate gift . It is a wonderful sense of fulfilment and so energizing .”
The winner for the award was announced late February , after the Villager ’ s deadline for the March issue .

Where are you eating ?
Like many here in Charbonneau , my wife and I enjoy an evening out to dinner , either just the two of us or with
SWITZER friends .
Obviously , for the past year , that has not been possible . But we still like to support local businesses , especially Curry ’ s Landing and The Turn here in Charbonneau and other establishments in and around Wilsonville . So , at least once a week , we order take out with two others in our “ bubble .”
I asked several Charbonneau residents where they like to order dinner . Here is the list , in no particular order :
aurora colony Vineyards & Winery
Langdon ’ s Grill and Filberts to our south ; Oswego Grill , Abella Italian and Canton Phoenix in Wilsonville . Also in Wilsonville Rice Time and Thai Village were among the favorites , as well as Juan Colorado . For Pizza , Perfect Pizza and Papa Murphy ’ s for take-and-bake . Venturing a little farther , La Fiesta in West Linn , Clancy ’ s Irish Pub in Sherwood and P . F . Changs at the Bridgeport Village were mentioned .
Everyone has their favorites and this list is in no way complete . Just a very small sampling of where people are doing takeout . Some prefer to pick up their orders while others use Grub Hub or Uber Eats . We have found the prepared meals at Costco , like the meatloaf , street tacos , or ribs to be a value .
Vaccine webinar
On Wednesday , Feb . 3 , Dr . Lee Harker presented a webinar on the COV- ID-19 vaccine . Dr . Harker is a retired pediatrician with over 30 years as a neonatologist . After extensive research into the development of the current and emerging vaccines , Dr . Harker put into “ normal ” English information on how the vaccines worked and

the importance of vaccination . For anyone with hesitations about getting vaccinated the presentation is very helpful . The videos also include information about the variants of the COV- ID-19 virus , how “ herd immunity ” works and vaccine safety . Both parts of the presentation are now available on the CCC website and with special thanks to Elaine Swyt , the Charbonneau Live website .
