mother went back to work as a head nurse for a hospital . My father retired from teaching at Notre Dame for health reasons and became a stay-at-home dad before it became an option ! He was a guest on the Phil Donahue talk show as a father taking care of nine children ! He did all the shopping and cooking and laundry . Phil Donahue asked , “ Isn ’ t it hard to cook for 11 people ?” My father replied , “ Nothing to it , you just put extra potatoes in the pot .” My mother was in the audience glaring at him . The life of a large Irish family .
Seasoned Niner by Cheryl Barnum
Someone who has many credentials to her name is Carol Zinsli . She is a talented member of the Niners . Carol and her husband Lee moved to Charbonneau on July 19 , 2004 the day it was 102 degrees ! Carol is from Portland and Lee is from North Dakota . They have two boys , one in Montana and the other in Woodburn . Their grandson has done three golf camps that are offered at Charbonneau . Carol has been a niner since 2005 and jumped right in to help with and enjoy all the projects by the Niners . Carol co-chairs the annual championship tournament , worked on scramble committes , helped with the Easter egg hunt for years , Pink Ball tournament , the dance team Charbonnettes , and end-of-the-year banquet . She wrote Niner ’ s articles for the Villager , is a member of CWA and model for the annual fashion show and , of course , the Niners golfing activities . Carol is a retired teacher , worked for the Department of Defense and taught in Okinawa for one year . Two of her favorite outside interests are the Wilsonville Garden Club , being a Master Gardner and belonging to the Portland Area Cainine Therapy Team . She worked with 11 guide dogs and five dogs qualified as guide dogs and one was chosen to be a dog for the deaf . The dog she has now , Lenny , was not chosen as a guide dog , but turned out to be the “ sweetest “ dog she could have chosen for her and Lee ! I asked her what her favorite part of being involved with the Niners is and she said the friendly , casual , nice group of people that she has met . So if you see Carol and Lenny walking , be sure to say “ Hi !” as they will definitely give you a “ Hello !” back .
