Seasoned Niner Jane Teunon by Cheryl Barnum

Ladies and Gentlemen fasten your seat belts , the Niners have a fun , loving and former stewardess in our group . Jane Teunon has been a well-traveled lady growing up and also with her career . She is the daughter of a retired naval officer and moved every two years . She attended Catawaba College , a very small college in North Carolina . Jane wanted to go to a small college so she could meet everyone and everyone she did . She met her husband , Ken , and they have been married for 54 years ! Jane was a first grade teacher in Virginia . Then , thinking Ken would be drafted , she became a stewardess for United Airlines . Both Ken and Jane believe flying was a huge gift to them . They have two children , a daughter in Seattle and a son in Tualatin . They are also grandparents to one grandson . Their children grew up in Tualatin and Ken and Jane moved to Charbonneau in 2008 . Jane joined the activities in Charbonneau by playing tennis and golf and becoming a member of the

Jane Teunon is a seasoned Niner .

Niners . She has helped with the Pink Ball Tournament and chaired scrambles with Joyce Bowden for years . Jane also wrote the Niners article for the Villager for five years . One of her favorite activities is being a member of the Charbonnettes . Jane says the best part of the Niners is the support everyone gives each other . She has become best friends with so many of the Niners and says although her family lives back east , she and Ken will not leave Oregon . Jane feels Charbonneau is a magical place to live . So as Jane would say , thank you for being so welcoming and enjoy your day !

Speaking of Charbonnettes , practice has started for “ Queens of Music ” Tuesday , June 8 . Joanna Sawyer gathered all the dancers and worked us out for a couple of hours ! We will spend hours practicing each week for our first show Sept . 28 . This year that we will give the performance to the Niners ... first ! It will be at the Niners End-of-the- Year Banquet . You are our best cheerleaders ! Mary Jane Hunt we love your “ wolf whistle !” And Julie Beaton is our captain “ Enthusiasm Ignitor .”

Our second scramble , “ Golf is Busting out all Over ” was fun ! We were only allowed to use four clubs so strategy was important ! Ever try chipping 20 yards out with a putter ? Thanks to Cathy Loffink and her scramble committee for this fun event ! Appreciation to our social members for their support at these events .

The Championship Tournament will be Tuesdays Aug . 17 and 24 . Details will be coming from co-chair , Pat Tewell and Carol Zinsli .

The Pink Ball Golf Tournament will be Sept . 14 . We have the go-ahead to proceed with the Pink Ball Golf Tournament ! Last year was the first ever Pink Ball Tournament that was canceled due to the pandemic . I will be sending out information on the first Pink Ball Committee meeting . If you are a new member and did not get a chance to sign up for the committee , call Mary Fieweger . She will tell you about the opportunity to help and support the largest golf event in Charbonneau !

The last scramble of the season will be Tuesday , Aug . 10 . Details coming soon .

The summer and celebrations seem to be getting back to normal . This will be wonderful for all families . Happy Fourth of July !

To the Charbonneau community ,

At this time I want to thank so many of you here in Charbonneau , my neighbors and friends , for your support over the last six months since my wife Kathy Gibbons passed away . You

have been a counter-balance to the unbelievable grief that came about so unexpectedly .

Kathy loved having so many friends through book club , garden club , aerobics , exercise class , wine club , golfing groups and even others

. Her favorite thing was working with Boys & Girls Aid Cypress branch . You helped make her life full .

Plans are now to have a celebration of life on Saturday , Aug . 28 , in the afternoon . If you would like to attend , please let my family

know by sending an email to our daughter at Melissagilley21 @ gmail . com and you will get an Evite for the gathering . That will help us with how many will attend .
