Charbonneau Women ’ s Golf Association By ANNE STRATON
Love of the game Valentine ’ s Day reminds us of people we love . But how about the things we love ? During this challenging pandemic crisis , we
STRATON have learned the
value and importance of staying engaged and active . Golf has been a life saver for many of us . The support and encouragement we have experienced on the golf course with our friends has been a lifeline . We have been sustained and enriched by it .
There is no promise that our lifestyles
|
will change much in the coming months , at least until a vaccine reaches most of us . We still have a long way to go . Therefore , there is no return to normal yet . Thankfully , golf is still happening , and our board is making every effort to bring fun to your game . We hope to see you out there soon .
The next board meeting is by Zoom Feb . 3 at 9 a . m . Lynda Huber-Marshall will be emailing information for all members interested in attending .
The committees are forming but there are a few chairperson positions that need volunteers : rules , social , stagette and historian . Contact Terry Borst or Laurie Bales if you are able to help out .
Also , if you haven ’ t already done so , please pay your 2021 dues . The season will be here before you know it .
Lastly , as an aside , I want to encourage you to invite a friend to join the CWGA . I joined two years ago and have had such a great time improving my game and meeting new friends . Who can you reach out to with a lifeline ?

students to observe the work in progress .
As a board member and volunteer , Ben is well-known to us and a Charbonneau resident . Eric , who coordinated the application , says , “ I am excited about the opportunities this grant affords us , and the vision of a carved stone jack-o-lantern with a couple mice playing on it brings a smile to my face !”
I wonder if Ben might create a removable face mask for the jacko-lantern , to add some whimsy during these challenging times .
We are hoping that the sculpture might be on display during our 2021 Festival of the Arts , if we are able then to hold a live event . We are also planning to record all the stages

of development , which we can periodically be posted on the website and will share the progress in future Villager articles .
Finally , I ’ d like to recognize our 2021 Board of Directors , a board that is small but mighty , in the weight of their accomplishments and talents . President Cathi McLain , vice president Elaine Swyt , treasurer Bob Wiesenthal , secretary Lynda Huber Marshall , festival chair Rick Cady , ex-officio past-president Eric Hoem , ex-officio Jenni Kadwell and at-large Benjamin Mefford . Next month , I ’ ll provide a brief bio on each of these superheroes , as inspiration for others who might want to join our ranks .
Happy Valentine ’ s Day and happy Presidents Day . And if that ’ s not enough , February celebrates National Dark Chocolate Day , Groundhog Day , Hedgehog Day , Tater Tot Day , Ukulele Day , National Serpent Day , National Baked Alaska Day , and more important than ever these days , National Get Up Day . Celebrate well !
