Kim Hosford ’ s last day is May 3 .
Charbonneau Country Club ’ s Kim Hosford is a jack of all trades — and one whose presence will be sorely missed . After more than 20 years at the CCC , Kim recently announced her last day will be May 3 . She encouraged community members to stop by the Pavilion between 10 a . m . and noon to say goodbye . People are required to wear masks and follow COVID-19 safety protocols and for those who can ’ t make it , Kim said she ’ s open to cards . “ I save my cards ,” she said . Kim started working at the country club in 2000 as an assistant to the executive director at the time .
“ My duties when I first started were to answer the phone , do accounts receivable , deal with people as they came in , people signing up for various things at that time ,” said Kim , adding that the list of duties was long .
As time went on , she took on more responsibilities including the job of activities coordinator .
“ That involved a lot of scheduling of activities and special events and that was a lot of fun ,” Kim said . “ I really enjoyed that part of it .”
She said she loved planning excursions

for residents like jet boating , concert or theater outings , dinners , Christmas light tours and wine tastings , among others .
Kim remembers taking a group to downtown Portland to attend a show and dinner . She found out it was one of the attendees ’ birthdays , so on the way back everyone sang her “ happy birthday ” and the woman said it was the best birthday she ever had .
Moments like these , with kind people she ’ s met , are what Kim said she will miss the most .
Other events that she enjoyed were seeing peoples ’ grandchildren at Charbonneau ’ s Easter Egg Hunt and the

“ I ’ m hopeful for the future , that things are going to be wonderful here going forward ,” Kim said .
Kim said she ’ s learned so much during her time working at the CCC because it ’ s essentially like running a small city .
“ It ’ s just really challenging . It just was wonderful ,” Kim said . “ I get to meet people ’ s families when they have weddings or celebrations of life . I get to know these people so much .”
After a tough year amid the COV- ID-19 pandemic , wildfires and a devastating snow and ice storm , Kim said it was time to retire . Her husband has also been retired for almost three years .
She said they purchased a motorhome in the fall and she ’ s hopeful the world will open back up soon with vaccinations in full-swing .
“ I just want to get in and go ,” she said . “ The last few months especially , I just felt the need to just be set free .”
Kim said she ’ s looking forward to traveling , hiking and spending time with her family and grandchildren .
As a Canby resident , she would also like to eventually volunteer and give back to her community , potentially reading with children at local schools .
“ I see people volunteering like crazy here and their lives are very rich and full ,” Kim said . “ They make this community so much better by the time they donate . I would like to be somebody like that for my community .”
