Thirty gift baskets were sold at the silent auction during the Crab and Rib Dinner .

We did it thanks to all of you ! After two years off we had a Crab and Rib Dinner on April 23 led by the contributions of our great trio who planned and put it all together : Ann Shev-

lin , Chris Bosak and Elaine Swyt . It was a great success . Thank you also to the many volunteers who helped with the preparation , setup and cleanup .

Everyone who attended had a great time seeing and greeting others . The food was good and the company of friends was even better .

Our speaker , Alex , who has been adopted through Boys & Girls Aid , gave an inspired account of his experiences . Having been shuffled from one foster home to another , he never knew where he would be next . This happened 12 times in as many years . Never finishing a solid

year in one school , he was behind academically . He was confused and angry at the world .

Boys & Girls Aid . He was given counseling and learned how to control the emotional turmoil caused by what he had been through . He was adopted by a couple who gave him a forever home of love and acceptance . Finishing school with flying colors , he is on his way to college . At the silent auction , there were 30 gift baskets — which were all beautifully done and displayed . Each basket was bid on and sold to the highest bidder . They all were sold at a good price . In several cases the bidding was competitive and a couple of the baskets went for more than the listed price .

Because of your generosity , after all expenses , we were able to donate over $ 40,000 to Boys & Girls Aid .

Watch for a notice about our final luncheon of the year . It will be during warm weather when we can be outside .
