like these game nights because they allow for a lot of time to socialize .
July will mark the return of our very popular wine tasting event ! Mary Costa and Shirley Wilkinson , transplants from the wonderful California wine country , are in charge of selecting the wines . We will be tasting whites and reds from Oregon and California . This year the women have strict instructions NOT to include Two ( or Three ) Buck Chuck in the wine selections .
I don ’ t know about you , but I think this rainy weather has got to stop ! Memorial Day barbecues were held indoors , today ( June 4 ) is another rainy day and the arts festival is going on at the clubhouse . However , rain or shine , it is a wonderful event and worth the price of admission . As I ran around serving and clearing last

night during the Friday Night Celebration , I was pleased to see so many Solo Sisters working as volunteers . Our five-star volunteer worker was Chris Cameron , who ran the kitchen for three exhausting hours . Paula Johnson was also kept busy in the kitchen and her hard work was deeply appreciated . Doreen Yates kept an eye on the art in the library all night while , upstairs , Ginny Merriman spent the evening overseeing the student art and another dozen of our members helped as greeters , servers or in food prep , so hats off to them as well .
As we move into summer , the planning committee is looking at restarting things like happy hours in local restaurants and lunch safaris with Lissa Willis . It ’ s time to get out there and have some fun girls , because we ’ re back !

Borrow or rent : Options for use of our equipment

I think we have finally reached “ summer ?” As wet and soggy as spring was , I ’ m sure none of us want a repeat of last summer ’ s hot spells ! A happy medium would be perfect .
Two new lovely ladies have volunteered to help in the Sunshine system , so you should never have an issue finding somebody to help you . There are plenty of local contacts whose names are listed in your
VEDDER new CCC Directory on the “ Sunshine ” page .

Presently we are in very good shape with equipment and therefore do NOT need any further donations ! You ’ re welcome to phone me if you do have something you don ’ t need and I can try to guide you to a donation destination that might be applicable for your specific item . Medical Teams International , in Tigard ( off Bonita ), will take “ ambulatory ” donations such as walkers , wheelchairs , crutches , etc . They do NOT take bath items of any sort ( neither does Goodwill ). You might also try Habitat ( in Canby ), veteran groups , etc .
We always appreciate a small cash donation in thanks for our services ; it allows repair or replacement if needed . The equipment we loan out to local residents is not cheap ! You ’ d be amazed at how much these professional pieces cost and , as we know , much of it is used on a short-term basis . “ Borrowing ” from Sunshine saves you a lot of money in the end ! Remember , “ renting ” is another possibility if extended time is needed . McCann ’ s in King City has a large stock of equipment for rent and they will even deliver !
The new Activity Center is swarming with various clubs , classes , reading space , etc . We are so very proud to be tucked into a welcoming , bright , huge room where we can serve you all ! Please remember to contact one of our volunteers for your needs ; it only works with one of us on hand .
Stay fit and safe for the summer months ahead . Oh yes , and don ’ t forget to smell the roses .
