Seasoned Niner by Cheryl Barnum
One member of the Seasoned Niners is Cathie Czar ( 2005 ). Cathie is from Carmel , California , where her heart belongs on the beach . However , she feels she could not have found a better place to live than Charbonneau . She moved here in 2005 . Cathie took advantage of all the activities in Charbonneau , including joining the Niners . Cathie immediately got involved in the scrambles , scoring , Welcome Back Coffee , Pink Ball , and her favorite “ regular play on Tuesday morning .”

Left to right : Debra Ulrich , Claudia Rewald , Mary Fieweger and Brenda Gardner played in a women ’ s golf tournament .
Her most memorable moment was on Yellow No . 7 ( water hole ). She teed off , the ball hit the tree and almost landed back on the tee box ! Cathie and her partner were laughing so hard that her partner fell down . She rolled over on grass to get up and was about to put her leg in the cart when Cathie took off . Needless to say , her partner was standing with her leg in the air yelling “ come back and help me .” Her partner ? Cheryl Barnum ! Cathie enjoys meeting the new Niners whether they ’ re golfers or social members ! Also living on Red 6 gives her a chance to watch others and either be jealous of someone ’ s great shot or feeling good that she could play as well as them .
Cathie is so grateful for joining the Niners for the fun , golf and camaraderie ! And the Niners are better as she is one of us !
Giving back this holiday season
Community members can donate gift cards for families
By CLARA HOWELL PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP
The holiday season is in full-swing and so is the generous spirit of giving . In Charbonneau , there are many residents who give time , money and gifts to various organizations yearround .
Every year , the community participates in a toy drive for the volunteerrun nonprofit organization Compassion in Action Clackamas County / Toy & Joy .
Residents usually bring unwrapped gifts to the Country Club — think toys , clothes , gift cards or games . But this year , Kim Hosford with the Charbonneau Country Club said gift cards are the preferred donation .
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the focus has shifted to allow families to purchase whatever they need . People can donate gift cards to grocery stores , restaurants , retail stores and more .
Items can be dropped off at the CCC from Dec . 1-17 as done in previous years .
Kim is also part of the Charbonneau Connection Book Club . Every year she said the club donates children ’ s books to the Community Transitional School in Portland .
Another way residents are giving back this holiday season is through art sales .
Martha Aaron is a quilter — and the selected artist of the month . Her quilts are on display through December at the country club .
Proceeds from Martha ’ s quilt sales will benefit Wilsonville Community

“ I get the joy of making the quilts and somebody else gets to enjoy them ,” Martha said .
There are 12 quilts hanging in the clubhouse and if any sell , Martha has replacements .
The prices range anywhere from $ 75 to $ 150 .
