Support our local businesses this holiday season

Hello everyone . In the good news department , most of you should have received a flyer announcing a new Tualatin
NEWBORE
Valley Fire & Rescue station on this side of the river at the office building next to the northbound on-ramp to I-5 .
There was also an article in last month ’ s Villager . It will have a paramedic unit , and the station will be staffed full time . Previous CCC Boards have been asking for this for years , so it is certainly good news .
Well , it ’ s that time of year again . December is all about the Christmas holiday . The retailers would have you believe the holiday starts at the end of August and lasts four months . For many , it is a joyous time and a time for family . For many it can also be a stressful time , however . That applies to people with families who stress out about getting things done or those without families who stress over that absence . If you know residents in the latter category , please reach out to them .
Because of the retail aspect of December , I would like to put in a plug for our local Charbonneau retail businesses in the Village :
Lux Sucre — I am delighted to see Chanelle and Brandon Walters expand their bakery into the old grocery location . As I mentioned last month , they intend to add some deli foods and beer and wine to their new indoor bakery / restaurant . They had originally hoped to have it open by early December , but permit delays have moved the opening to the first few weeks
of 2022 . Take some special treats to your family for the holidays from their existing bakery , however !
Hasson Company Realtors — While I hope no one is contemplating leaving our community , please use a local realtor if you do . Lisa Willet knows Charbonneau well and is a great sales person .
Windermere — Marla Rumpf is the owner , and several qualified sales professionals work out of this office including Amy Costello , John Cronkite , Traci Cronkite , Steve Mallicoat , Roger Arndt , and Jan Panfilio . Several of them live in Charbonneau as well .
Curry ’ s Landing — I eat there for lunch quite a bit . Help support Bill and Cindy by splurging and having lunch or dinner there , multiple times in December .
Charbonneau Salon and Spa — Owned by Evelyn Fowler , this business provides men and women ’ s haircuts , styling , coloring , and facials , among other similar services . Please let go of some of that Christmas money and

treat yourself to one of these services .
Touch of Jade massage — While I ’ m not a massage guy myself , I have heard wonderful things about their massages . Give your someone a massage for Christmas .
Tufts Wealth Management — Who can give themselves a better Christmas present than getting a better return on your money than the less than half percent you can get at a bank ? Go talk to Bill or Sarah Tufts and see what they can do with your money .
Corium 21 — Brent and Debbie Johnson sell Aloe skincare lotions that can help a variety of skin ailments . Most of their business is wholesale , but they sell retail as well . What a great gift for your loved one ! Go buy a bottle as a Christmas present .
Charbonneau Golf Club — Last , but definitely not least , be proud of our community and buy something in the golf Pro Shop with a Charbonneau logo on it . For the golfer in your extended family , a golf gift makes a wonderful Christmas present . And be sure to smile at Chris and ask for the holiday special . He will probably say something like , “ everything is special today ,” but who knows , maybe he will make you a deal .
The featured CCC Board member this month is Linda Owen . Linda joined the board in May of 2020 and is our treasurer . You know , the one who watches our money ! I would say that is a very important position . Linda stepped up when our previous treasurer , Lindy Anderson , had to leave the board because of term limits , and she is doing an excellent job . Linda and her husband Dale moved to Charbonneau in 2011 from central Oregon to be closer to the grandkids . Her career was mostly in the legal field , working for private attorneys and then as judicial assistant for the chief bankruptcy judge for the district of Oregon for several years . When the judge retired , she became the HR director and case management supervisor for those filing Chapter 13 . In her 10 years here , she has been involved in numerous groups , including CWGA , Sunshine Service , and more recently served on the Activity Center Task Force . As a board member , she said “ I enjoy working with an excellent group of knowledgeable people doing what is best for the entire community .”
Linda enjoys her family , her friends here in Charbonneau , some quilting and golf .
I have featured all nine of our CCC Board members this year and , hopefully , you have learned that they are a hardworking group , freely volunteering their time for the good of our community . They are all former professionals who work well together , and it has been my pleasure working with each and every one of them this year .
This is my last update of 2021 on the Activity Center . Most of the work left now is on the interior , so progress is not very visible from the outside . We have two months to go until our grand opening . Although plans are not finalized at this time , I ’ m sure we will have a grand opening party with tours of the facility . Can ’ t wait ! Have a super holiday season this year .
