snacks too , although you may want to bring a small pillow to counteract the effects of our hard plastic stackable chairs — apparently designed to keep meetings short . See you there !
The fun and hair-raising thrills of ... Genealogy Club will return to the library at 1 p . m . on Monday , Aug . 15 . The agenda has yet to be determined , but a quick check of the website or a phone call can elucidate all . Join us , and bring your ancestor-related questions !
Well , if genealogy doesn ’ t float your boat , then how about donating some blood to the American Red Cross ? We ’ re hosting a blood drive on Friday , Aug . 19 , all day . Here ’ s the thing — These blood drives are almost always ‘ sold out ’ on the day of due to the kind and generous donation of volunteers calling ahead for appointments . And you can too ! It ’ s a new program designed to get the body and brain to move together . Personally , I ’ m hoping for donuts too ! We ’ ll be discussing an as-yet-unpicked literary theme rather than a specific book and we should have fun in the telling . Join me and the other hearty souls on our inaugural trek !
If you ’ ve visited the library recently , you ’ ve probably seen the hoards of children running about the building trying to find all the clues for the scavenger hunt — This has proven so popular that we ’ re making it a regular library activity . Staff even has clues for the frustrated !

Communications Chair

By STEVE SWITZER

Larry Walker back as communications chair

As noted in Gary ’ s president ’ s column , CCC welcomed Larry Walker back to our Board of Directors . Larry served
SWITZER as communications chair when he was previously on the board . He continued on the committee and has been instrumental in our efforts to keep our community informed . Larry fills the term of Pat Tewell , who passed away suddenly in May .
Director Linda Owen and I will remain on the committee . There
Your Charbonneau Neighbor in Real Estate has also been some interest by a few others to join the committee . We welcome that interest and Larry will reach out to those who have contacted staff regarding the committee . In June , the board appointed Lindy Anderson to fill the vacancy created when Judy Brennan moved to California .
The CCC Board is interested in expanding our communications and has charged the committee with that effort . Of course , just when we thought we could reinstate the “ Fireside Chats ” and other gatherings , COVID-19 made a resurgence . This put the idea of large gatherings on hold for a while longer . We also put in our economic dashboard on the website . However , that policy was withdrawn when the information was shared on other social media sites without our permission . We will revisit that issue moving forward since keeping our residents informed on the budget is important to the CCC Board . Currently , that information is available at the office in printed form .

Real Estate today with Lynda Huber

If you ’ re thinking about making a move , you probably want to know what ’ s going to happen to home prices for the rest of the year . While experts say price growth will moderate due to the shifting market , ongoing appreciation is expected .
The frenzy the market saw during the pandemic is because there was more demand than homes for sale . That drove home prices up as buyers competed with one another for available homes . And while buyer demand has moderated today in response to higher mortgage rates , data tells us demand will continue to be driven by the large generation of millennials aging into their peak homebuying years .
Based on today ’ s factors driving supply and demand , experts project home price appreciation will continue . It ’ ll just happen at a more moderate pace as the housing market continues its shift back toward pre-pandemic levels .
