• Finished the seasons 11-1 in the state quarterfinals
• Completed an undefeated regular season
After a 2-7 season, the Morrison Mustangs turned a corner
to an 11-1 season and an impressive playoff run, making
head coach Ryan Oetting the finalist for Coach of the Year.
Oetting took over the program in 2018. In their seven
losses four were by less than 20 and three were by less
than ten, leaving them on the fence as to which direction
they could go. In Oetting’s second year, the Mustang
• Took down ranked opponents Orion, Sterling Newman
• Fielded one of the best defenses in the state
started the season with an impressive 34-point win and
just kept getting better and better. They went undefeated
in the regular season, taking the Three Rivers Conference
crown. They then won two dominant games in the playoffs,
making their turnaround complete with a No. 4 state
rankings and a narrow loss in the quarterfinals.
