SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

Albia
Pence earned first-team all-state honors in Class 3A from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the first time after pitching Albia to a third-place finish in this year ' s state softball tournament. Pence was also selected to the 3A All-State Tournament team, finishing fifth in the state with 274 strikeouts while recording a 24-3 season in the pitching circle and a 0.77 ERA.

EMMA EEKHOFF

PELLA
Eekhoff was named to the Class 4A first team. The senior pitcher had a dominant postseason that helped propel the Lady Dutch to their first ever state title and earned her all-touranment team captain recognition. Eekhoff sported an 18-8 record in the circle with a 1.84 ERA and 172 strikeouts in 152 innings. She also led off for Pella and would slash. 460 with a. 520 on-base percentage to go with her 10 doubles, 15 home runs and 34 RBIs.
Sigourney
Moore earned first-team all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the third consecutive year, moving out to the pitching circle this season after catching all-state pitcher and cousin Carly Goodwin over the past two seasons. Moore went 17-6 in the pitching circle, striking out 192 batters over 148 innings while posting the 15th-lowest overall ERA of 1.18 while also posting the fifth-highest slugging percentage( 1.645) and the fifthmost home runs( 9) at the plate.
