Change/Winter 2014-15 9
The government found it only necessary for the camps to be filled with people who were able to work efficiently. Constantly the Nazis would make “selections” to eliminate the ill, old, and those who werent fit to work.
If you were selected, you would be killed by either gas, injections, or a gun. The government found these people useless.
Labor or Torture
Forced labor played big role in the economy of the camps and was important to the outbreak of WWII. The labor these people were put through cannot fully described unless you experienced it yourself. For the majority, it was brutal work in industrial factories. Many Jews say it was like being “worked to death” which was exactly what the goal of concentration camps in Auschwitz and Majclaek.
When the Jews would arrive at these camps, they were separated into 2 groups. One of those groups was those to young, old or weak to work and they were immediately killed. The other group was literally worked to death. The Nazis would force them to work brutal jobs and if they didn’t die from that, they would shoot them when they became weak. An estimate of 500,000 victims died of forced labor in the concentration camps.
Actions of the Nazis
Extermination camps were in effect in the years 1941-1945. They were industrial plants with only one purpose, which was to kill people. In those years, there were 6 camps made for the killing of the Jews.
The mass murdering that took place here was one of the major causes of death during the holocaust. About half of the 6 million victims that went through the holocaust died from these murdering methods.
These camps were very organized and strongly resembled a normal factory so that the Jews didn’t know what was going to happen. These extermination camps were located near rail ways and outside of German public to avoid any contradicting opinions to their actions.
The torture that the Holocaust vitums went through was horrible and undescribable by anyone who didnt experience it. Let this remind all of us that we dont want anyone to ever havt to go through this again.
