How To Recover From A Bad Shot

PATIENCE is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances . It is the level of endurance one can have before negativity . It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast . Golf WILL test your patience .
The sports world is full of “ perfects ”. The perfect “ 10 ” routine in gymnastics or figure skating , the perfect “ 10 ” wave in surfing , the perfect “ no hitter ” in baseball , and so on . Unfortunately in golf , perfect is few and far between . There are moments of perfection , very brief moments , obviously holing a shot from the fairway or a long putt can be considered a perfect outcome , but for the most part a good shot is a great outcome . Not all good swings will result in a good outcome , a bad bounce , a gust of wind hitting the flag stick are all factors that can lead to an unforeseen poor outcome . However , for the most part a poor outcome is the result of where you , the golfer hit the ball relative to your expectation .
Remember : Make decisions by design , not by default . Each shot you play is an individual plan and in order to accomplish your desired outcome you must strategically plan and execute the task at hand - free of any negative thoughts from previous poor outcomes .
On the PGA Tour the 100th ranked player has a scoring average of 71.2 and only hits the green on approach shots from 150-175 yards , 68.5 % of the time . It is imperative that your mindset and attitude are in sync with your realistic talent and expectations .
Mental Toughness and a Winning Mindset are created by :
• Accepting all outcomes , regardless of the cause
• Think clearly while maintaining your game plan and routines
• The ability to maintain calmness during times of adversity
• Rebound from setbacks with a positive attitude
• An ability to persist or a refusal to quit
• Taking ownership of your reactions and your ability to dispense negative emotions in a quick systematic manner
