PRESERVING HISTORY , BUILDING COMMUNITY : THE NORTH CENTRAL HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOODS PLAN ✅
In a bid to preserve the rich historical fabric of the North Central Historic Neighborhoods and enhance community stability , an updated neighborhood plan was crafted with the collaboration of residents , City staff , and a dedicated steering committee . This comprehensive plan , recently approved and adopted by City Council , is set to become an integral part of Arlington ’ s Comprehensive Plan .
North Central Historic Neighborhoods residents approached the City in May 2023 seeking an update to their existing plan , which was conducted in conjunction with City staff in 2001 , though never adopted by City Council .
The North Central Historic Neighborhoods have deep historical roots that form the foundation of their identity . Within this neighborhood ’ s boundaries lie two distinct historic districts : the Old Town National Register Historic District and The Hill Historic District . The North Central Historic Neighborhoods proudly continue to embrace their past while forging a bright future . The updated neighborhood plan seeks to preserve these historical assets , ensuring that their stories endure for generations to come , allowing residents and visitors to connect with the neighborhood ’ s rich history and cultural heritage .
