26 January and February 2018 Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau Bureau Business Happy New Year Emporia! The Emporia CVB staff is ready to get this new year started. We ended 2017 with some award-winning results for our marketing efforts and plan to see even better results in 2018! The awards received by us at the state tourism conference confirmed that we are getting the attention of visitors in a very special way. As we said before, “Kansas is a State of the Union, Emporia is a State of Mind. We will raise more hell and fewer dahlias.” What does this mean? It means we will keep pushing Emporia as a place where people ride bikes, play disc golf, enjoy Susan Rathke CVB Director live music and the arts, and enjoy being in a friendly city where people look you in the eye and smile! The job of the Emporia CVB is to market this city as a destination for visitors, enticing them to shop, eat, play, and sleep here. We look to the outside of Emporia for those visitors, many coming from all over the country and internationally. I’d like to thank our Emporia tourism partners; hoteliers, attraction managers, city and county government, event planners, restaurant and retail managers, civic and service organizations, volunteers, members of the Convention and Visitors Advisory Board and all the welcoming and generous citizens in Emporia that help make this city so great. We are looking forward to continuing the promotion of Emporia in 2018 as the award-winning city that it truly is. The Emporia Convention and Visitors Bureau is here to assist you with event planning. For tours, meetings and conventions, weddings and reunions, we are ready to help. And for those looking for grants to assist with their events in 2018, the 1st application deadline is February 1.
