Attention B’nei Mitzvah Families
pause and to take a breath…to say Hineini…and recognize the blessing of
every encounter and experience, and not allow our “spiritual” moments to be
limited to the sanctuary or a remarkable sunset or magnificent rainbow.
One of our greatest challenges remains our ability to be grateful even amidst
our challenges and yes…amidst moments of loss and bereavement. In our
darkness it is so difficult to witness the light that truly surrounds us daily.
Yet… “hidden blessings” are truly some of our most powerful teachers and
there is great wisdom in receiving whatever comes our way with an attitude of
thankfulness and gratitude.
Within the northwest suburbs, we are very blessed to join together as
churches and synagogues to acknowledge our collective blessings at our
yearly Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, truly one of the “hidden gifts” of our
calendar year. I invite you to join us on Sunday evening, November 24th at
7:00 p.m. as Temple Chai is proud to host this joyous and uplifting service.
“It is good to give thanks to the Source of our Blessings;
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
To proclaim Your goodness in the morning;
And Your faithfulness at night.” (Psalm 92)
May we take this month of November to reawaken the spirit of gratitude…
of recognizing the good that surrounds us daily; to be in touch with and
acknowledge with love and appreciation each of our daily blessings with the
Chanukah candles reminding us of the many “hidden blessings” of our lives
and affirming the light even amidst the darkness that may surround us.
