IT BEGINS!

The opening ceremony of the fourth edition of the CMFMUNESCO 2017 took place yesterday in St Francis church in Cividale del Friuli, where Simone Clavora, the Secretary General officially opened the event. He said that he is honored to be part of this wonderful project and delighted to host more than 300 students from all over the world. He reminded us how discussion is always possible and violence has never been the right solution to conflicts and noted that youth do not represent our tomorrow or our future, they are the present.

On behalf of the Mayor of Cividale, the Assessor for Culture Ms Angela Zappulla expressed her pride for the opportunity that Convitto Nazionale Paolo Diacono gives the students and highlighted the events linked with the commemoration of the 1917 destruction of the Devil's Bridge.

Ms Patrizia Pavatt welcomed the authorities and students and introduced the committee for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in Europe, a source of satisfaction for the Italian Red Cross represented at the ceremony by the Head of Humanitarian Diplomacy - Italian Red Cross, Dr Leila Castillo who talked about their work and their mission: to give voice to those who have no voice. She recalled the Day of Violence against Women and the importance of the denunciation of any kind of violence.

The representative of the Regional Government, Maria Grazia Santoro, took the floor to say that the students involved in this conference and simulations are an example for other people and she agreed with Simone Clavora, the Secretary General, when he said that young people are the present.

So, after the last instrumental piece, applause and the speeches by the ambassadors of all the delegations taking part in CFMUNESCO, the Secretary General , with his wooden hammer, declared CFMUNESCO 2017 officially open!
