How to Use Boolean Search Boolean search is the most effective search. Simply type the word(s) you wish to find in the search box. Choose the type of search from the dropdown menu. You can also specify other words you wish to include or omit by using the operators, AND, OR, and NOT. If one word belongs in every record returned, it should be the LAST thing searched for (AND search). To search for an exact match, put a period after the word (i.e. "CATS."). How to Select Items by Grade Level and/or Format Searches for some subjects may yield hundreds of hits. To refine your search select by grade level and/or format. Use the Boolean search option and the appropriate field from the drop-down menu to search for a specific format and/or grade level. To Limit by Grade Level - Select Interest Code from the drop down menu and use one of the following terms –
Use: preschool kindergarten primary intermediate middle school high school For: preschool / early childhood kindergarten only K - 3rd grade 4th - 6th grade 6th - 9th grade 9th - 12th grade
To Limit by Format – Select Medium from the drop down menu and use one of the following terms –
