“ The impact we make can change lives and have an impact on the next generation . I have witnessed so many youth overcome their trauma and go out and be healthy , happy adults . I love when we can make a kid feel safe and loved . You can see it in their smile when they feel happy and safe , when you see their confidence begin to break through the fear and doubt they once had . The most rewarding and fulfilling aspect is just seeing the kids happy and on their way to becoming happy and successful adults .”
BRANTWOOD CHILDREN ’ S HOME
Mission : Serving youth through a caring , therapeutic environment where hurts are healed and hope is nurtured .
Background : Brantwood Children ’ s Home was founded in 1917 by the Federation of Women ’ s Club to care for children whose mothers were incarcerated and fathers were at war . Since that time , Brantwood has become a home for Alabama ’ s most vulnerable , disadvantaged youth . We foster boys and girls ages 10-20 years old that have been removed from their homes by the Department of Human Resources .
