JACKSON THORNTON NAMED A TOP 200 FIRM

Jackson Thornton , a certified public accounting and consulting firm , announced that it has recently been named a Top 200 Firm by INSIDE Public Accounting ( IPA ). The IPA 200 ranking is based on the 2024 IPA Practice Management Survey . The IPA Top 500 firms are ranked by US net revenue and are compiled by analyzing the hundreds of responses received for this year ’ s IPA survey . This is IPA ’ s 34th annual ranking of the largest accounting firms in the nation ; Jackson Thornton was ranked 145th .

HAMPSTEAD BROKE GROUND ON A NEW MONTESSORI SCHOOL CAMPUS

The Montessori School at Hampstead has broken ground on a new campus that is scheduled to be complete by summer 2025 . The new campus aims to increase the school ’ s enrollment by 55 % for students from 12 months to seven years old . The school will move from its current location at Hampstead ’ s Town Center to land near Hampstead Farm , the soccer field , and the tennis and pickleball courts . The new campus will be a one-minute walk from Hampstead homes .

THE HEART OF ALABAMA FOOD BANK RECEIVED $ 335,000 DONATION FROM PUBLIX SUPER MARKETS CHARITIES

The Heart of Alabama Food Bank ( HAFB ) announced they received a total donation of $ 335,000 from Publix Super Markets Charities to purchase a refrigerated box truck and two refrigerated vans to reach the 256,000 people facing food insecurity in HAFB ’ s 35-county service area . The donation will significantly increase HAFB ’ s ability to serve rural neighbors battling hunger and food insecurity . Of that , $ 200,000 will go towards purchasing a 26-foot refrigerated box truck with a lift gate . Additionally , $ 135,000 will be allocated to purchase two refrigerated vans for home deliveries of fresh , nutritious food .

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON THE CALMAR COMMUNITY CENTER

HYUNDAI EXPANDS ROBOTICS INITIATIVE INTO SELMA SCHOOLS

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama ( HMMA ) is expanding its Hyundai Initiative for Robotics Excellence ( HIRE ) program into Selma City Schools through a $ 60,000 grant making the program possible . The goal of HIRE : Selma is to expand and enhance competitive robotics programs at six schools ( five elementary and one middle ) in Selma and to seed the next generation of a technically proficient workforce . The six included schools each previously had one VEX-IQ competition team ; HIRE : Selma will expand each school to two teams and provide updated robotics equipment and additional support for teachers and students .
Construction is underway at a site along Calmar Drive that will feature a brand-new community center , the Calmar Community Center . The 5,000-square-foot facility will include meeting rooms and classrooms for high-quality pre-K programming , workforce development and continuing education opportunities . The facility will also incorporate activities for senior citizens , high school students and others . With an investment of 2.5 million dollars , the Calmar Community Center is expected to open its doors in the spring of 2025 . Funding for the center comes from American Rescue Plan Act ( ARPA ) funds , as well as the Department of Housing and Urban Development ’ s Community Block Grant program .
