Auburn University at Montgomery earned a No . 29 ranking among the top public regional universities in the South in U . S . News & World Report ’ s newly released 2024 Best Colleges survey . It marked AUM ’ s best placement among its regional public university peers in the annual Best Colleges rankings . AUM ranked 38th among “ Best Value Schools ” in the South and placed No . 63 among all regional universities in the South for overall quality .
RETAILERS WORKING WITH PROSECUTORS AND JUDGES TO FIGHT ORGANIZED RETAIL THEFT
Joining forces with the National District Attorneys Association ( NDAA ) and the Retail Industry Leaders Association ( RILA ), Montgomery legal leaders are participating in a national effort to fight organized retail theft . They held an informational session for retailers on September 14 during National Store Walk Month to address these concerns , promoting safer , prosperous and more vibrant communities . Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl D . Bailey and Judge Johnny Hardwick discussed the problem and what ’ s being done — including new laws — to fight it .

MONTGOMERY WHITEWATER LAUNCHES ITS FIRST AFTER-SCHOOL KAYAKING INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
Montgomery Whitewater launched its first after-school kayaking instructional program , introducing a new option for sporting hobbies and potential career paths for young people in Central Alabama . The fourweek program for middle and high school level youth of all skill levels teaches the ins and outs of Class II-IV rapids from trained professionals in the park ’ s safe , controlled environment , and all necessary equipment for the program is provided to participants .

Valiant Cross Academy will now offer a new Theater Program , Valiant Cross Voices of The Masters Class . It will be taught by Dr . Tonea Stewart and assisted by Coach Ron Dickerson Sr ., former Miami Dolphin NFL player , author , university football coach and history scholar . Dr . Stewart is a professional actress , play director , national museum exhibit director , tenured professor and retired as Dean of the College of Visual & Performing Arts at Alabama State University .
