5 . JIM WILSON & ASSOCIATES CELEBRATES 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS Jim Wilson & Associates ( JWA ) is celebrating fifty years in the business in 2025 . What started in the mid 1970s with Jim Wilson , Jr . as a shopping center development company has grown to a successful , well-known , diversified entrepreneurial company now managed by his two sons , Jim Wilson , III and Will Wilson . Like any other successful business , JWA has survived , changed and pivoted to new ideas and ventures .
6 . THE ACCC DIVISION II BASEBALL TOURNAMENT RETURNS TO MONTGOMERY For the first time since 1988 , the ACCC Division II Baseball Tournament will be returning to Montgomery . The tournament will be held April 23-27 , 2025 and will be played at Historic Paterson Field in the capital city . The Championship and “ if necessary ” game will be at Riverwalk Stadium , home of the Montgomery Biscuits .
7 . META PLATFORMS ’ MONTGOMERY DATA CENTER IN CONSTRUCTION Meta Platforms plans to open an $ 800 million data center in Alabama ’ s capital city Meta ’ s new 715,000-square-foot , AI-optimized data center will be built off Interstate 65 in Montgomery , across from the Hyundai automotive assembly plant . The Montgomery data center , reflecting Meta ’ s latest design , will become its 24th data hub and the 20th in the United States . Construction officially began in February 2024 and will continue throughout the year . The final project is expected to go online at the end of 2026 and bring over 100 jobs .
8 . WETUMPKA INTRODUCES EVENT SHUTTLES In 2025 , Wetumpka is making it easier than ever to explore downtown with the introduction of two event shuttles . These executive golf carts will provide convenient transportation for visitors and attendees , shuttling them between the city ’ s public parking lots and bustling downtown events . This new service reflects the city ’ s commitment to accessibility and creating a welcoming environment for all .
9 . THE RIVERFRONT GREENWAY TRAIL EXTENSION PLANS TO BREAK GROUND IN THE SPRING The extension of the Riverfront Greenway Trail is an important investment for the whole community — increasing access to nature , to recreational opportunities and creating meaningful connections to the flora and fauna of the Alabama River and to the history and life of the City . The Riverfront Greenway Trail creates a two-mile loop around the Riverfront .
10 . SHAW TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS WITH A NEW LOCATION Shaw Technologies is set to expand its footprint with the launch of a brandnew location at the start of the year . The new location will not only enhance operational capacity but also position Shaw Technologies to meet the rising demand for advanced IT solutions across the region .
11 . FAULKNER UNIVERSITY TO LAUNCH SCHOOL OF NURSING IN FALL 2025 Faulkner University will launch its School of Nursing in Fall 2025 . The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is designed to equip aspiring nurses with the knowledge , skills , and compassion necessary to thrive in today ’ s ever-evolving healthcare landscape , all while embodying the hands and feet of Christ . Applications for the upper division are now being accepted .
